2018 was an exciting year for me career-wise. I was building my consultancy business, blogging, launching a YouTube channel, freelancing in digital marketing and copywriting on the side. Despite leaving me completely burnt out by the time 2019 rolled around, it taught me a huge amount about moving my career forward. I thought I’d share the 5 key lessons I learned in the year my career finally took off… Read more
I wanted to talk about body image, body positivity and embracing my curves as it is so important to celebrate our amazing bodies. This also neatly follows on from my previous blogpost where I touched on the impact social media and bombardment of unrealistic images can have on our own insecurities and wellbeing. Read more
You might, or might not, have noticed I recently took a lengthy blog and digital detox. I all but disappeared from the internet. However, I am delighted to say I am back and I'm kicking off with a post I feel is really important to be honest about in the blogging arena and that is my image and blog principles. Read more
At the end of last week, I turned 30. I'm not going to lie I was pretty terrified! The gap between your 20s and 30s seems exponential and I wasn't sure how ready I was to take that leap. Having now turned 30, it doesn't seem all that bad. For this post, I thought I'd share a few lessons turning 30 has taught me.
“Things come to those who wait”; what a cliché and to a certain extent only half true. The expression really should be, "things come to those who wait but who also work their little behinds off!" Having faith in yourself, hustling hard and never giving up are key to achieving your goals. I'm sharing some of my failures and triumphs in this post to show hard work trumps everything.
Life has a way of getting on top of us and I think we're all guilty of rushing around nonstop and forgetting to give ourselves sufficient "me time". I thought I'd share my 5 favourite ways to unwind and hopefully, it'll encourage us all to take a well deserved break!
We have hit a brand new year and in my book that means a totally clean slate. If you can't start a fresh year with a positive outlook and a willingness to be a happier, better person then there really isn't any hope! In one of my first ever Thoughts of the Month post I wrote about my "Happiness Formula" but if truth be told I haven't been living my life by it recently. So I'm taking a life changing step and telling you all about it in this post, taking the plunge.
The reality of life is there are plenty of people in this world who are more successful than you but equally there are so many still striving to achieve what you have already, even though it sometimes may not feel like it. Staying motivated and soldiering on is the key to reaching those goals. I've had to overcome numerous tricky obstacles but somehow or another I always made it through. This is what I've learned so far:
I was recently brought crashing down to earth with a thud when I realised my little bubby sister is not so little anymore. Once she'd turned 13 she overnight became a young lady with her own thoughts, challenges and demons. While thinking about how I can be there for her through these tricky adolescent years I began thinking about my turbulent teens and if I could go back what would I change. While I don't believe in regrets, there are pointers I could definitely have done with. This is a letter to my younger self.... Read more
Blogs have a habit of creating this perfect life illusion but remember behind every glossy image is many hours of mooching about in trackies with messy hair and imperfect skin. When I write these kinds of “life advice” posts I want them to reflect reality, not fantasy. What I want to say is IT IS OK not to be perfect. Sometimes (actually quite often) I’m grumpy, unmotivated, feisty or temperamental. These are not my favourite characteristics but they are a part of me and IT IS OK.
So this is a very different post for me; it is far more personal than anything I've put on That New Dress but it's something I really want to talk about and get other people's opinions on. It is no secret I am single and so here is my problem, according to many of my contemporaries being 26 and single is a rather sorry state of affairs. Read more
