I really love Saint Laurent, it has all the elements of a classic Parisian fashion house, it's stylish, luxurious and exclusive but still manages to have a contemporary edge to it.

Monogramme Kate small croc-effect leather shoulder bag

Quite a few people have spotted and been commenting on this Saint Laurent bag which has popped up in a lot of blogposts over the last month.  It is the latest addition to my bag collection and I literally cannot get enough of it!

I really love Saint Laurent, it has all the elements of a classic Parisian fashion house, it’s stylish, luxurious and exclusive but still manages to have a contemporary edge to it.  It’s such a cool yet timeless brand.  Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore Chanel but I feel it’s slightly overdone at moment, every girl in London is carrying a Chanel bag, plus it is crazy expensive, so currently my heart belongs to Saint Laurent (and Givenchy but that’s for another post).

This is the Monogramme Kate bag in the croc effect in black with a tassel in size small.  It is a classic style and comes in three sizes, small, medium and large.  You can get it with or without the tassel, in different leathers and in various colours which vary from season to season.

Wearability

This is such an easy bag to wear and I love that you can dress it up or down.  It looks great with jeans or with a cocktail dress.  I like to wear it over my shoulder as I tend to wear bags long but it also looks great worn crossbody.  Alternatively, it can be carried as a clutch to make it even more evening appropriate.

This is a tiny bag, it’s not like some of my other bags which are deceptively larger than they look, this is plain ol’ small!   Having said that, I can just about fit all I need into it but it’s a bit of a faff taking anything out as I constantly have to rearrange everything to make it fit.  I have the iPhone Plus which is the main issue as I have to place it at a diagonal to make it fit, so it basically takes up all the space!  I think any other smaller phone probably wouldn’t be an issue.  I’d definitely love the medium size in this bag too, although that’s probably a little greedy!

Quality

The quality is absolutely amazing!  As a said above I squish all sorts into this bag and use every millimeter and it hasn’t lost its shape at all.  There are no scratches on the leather.  It still looks brand new.

My only very small gripe is sometimes the magnetic closure is a bit fiddly and you have to get it perfectly aligned for it to snap closed.

Price

Compared to most high-end designers Saint Laurent is the fairly reasonably priced.  Although this bag retails for £1250, they do a number of bags under the £1000 mark which is unheard of for most of the big designer brands.  Although this bag may seem like a huge amount of money if you compare it to the Mini Chanel Classic Flap which is over a £1000 more and very similar in size and shape (see it HERE), it is well priced.

The Monogramme Kate is a classic style, so you’ll be able to wear it time and time again without worrying about it going out of style.  Plus I think the prices go up every year so it’s best to make the purchase as soon as you can.

On a different note, how adorable is this top?  Recently, I’ve discovered a couple of amazing new brands on ASOS and this top is from one of them.  It’s called Bec & Bridge.  It is on the pricier side but the quality is really good, much better than ASOS’s own label stuff.  Plus I always think with a statement piece like this, it is worth spending a little bit more so you can wear it season after season without it looking worse for wear.

I think this will be fab for all those upcoming Christmas events.  If you’re like me and have fallen head over heels in love with this top, buy it soon because the last time I checked there were only limited sizes left (you can find it HERE).
