Dungarees (or overalls for those living Stateside) have become an obsession of mine over the last couple of years.

River Island Dungaree Dress

I picked up this dungaree dress in the River Island sale a couple of weeks ago and I’ve barely taken it off since.  I have a feeling it’s going to be my winter fail safe.

Dungarees (or overalls for those living Stateside) have become an obsession of mine over the last couple of years.  Ever since I randomly picked up my first pair from Topshop (catch them HERE for an embarrassingly early blogpost from me!), it’s been a struggle to get me out of them.  First off, they’re ridiculously comfortable; they’re basically an outdoor appropriate onesie!

Secondly, they’re incredibly versatile and can easily be dressed up or down.  I’d happily wear this River Island version to the office, on a lunch date or for drinks with the girls.  You can completely change the look of them depending on what you layer underneath and the shoes you pair with it.

At the moment my favourite is styling this dungaree dress with a basic long sleeve top, a statement jacket and a pair of booties.  I just love how this look can effortlessly take me from day to evening.

The silver lining to this colder weather is being able to pull out my Charlotte Simone fuzzy bomber.  I realise this jacket isn’t for the faint-hearted but it’s actually incredibly easy to wear.  You’d be surprised just how much goes with; I literally throw it over everything.  If you’re feeling brave I cannot recommend this jacket enough (click HERE to see  how I’ve styled it previously).

I’m wearing last season’s shape, although it is still available, but I’d also recommend checking some of the new super cool jackets and coats for this Autumn/Winter, especially the Biker Bomber and Va-Va  Varsity.

Next on my wish list is a pair of Second Skin Overalls from blogging sensation Danielle Bernstein of the blog, WeWoreWhat.  This is her newly launched overalls line and I have to say I’m SO impressed with the different styles and shapes she has done.  Everyone I’ve seen wearing them looks absolutely amazing, they seem to emphasise and flatter all the right parts of the body.  If anyone owns a pair or has tried them, I would love to know your thoughts and whether they really are as good as they look.

  1. I love that overall dress – sorry, I feel strange saying dungaree, and it goes perfectly with your faux fur bomber and booties. Such a fun outfit, and I can see why you don’t want to take off the dress! Your choker with the tassles is also daring and adorable! I see that the maker is in L.A. – how convenient for me! XO

  2. You’ve styled your dungaree dress in a way that’s so chic and sophisticated, definitely appropriate for the office! That coat is beyond gorgeous, I’m a sucker for all things faux fur and this grey one has my full attention and looks so good on you, girlie! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have the best week ahead!

  3. I’m actually not the biggest fan of overalls mostly because I just haven’t found a way yet to combine ’em in a way I love them, you know? I like seeing them on other people but I still think it’s definitely a bit tricky to make sure it all matches correctly. You do look very pretty in this look 🙂 Looks super warm too!

  4. Haha that’s ok! I think overalls is actually a better word! Oooh if you get anything from Christopher Vigil let me know. I always think it’s great to support up and coming designers xx
