I’m a girl, I’m in America and I have a penchant for makeup… hmmm I wonder where I’ll be headed first?! Sephora of course, where I was a little bit spend happy! If you love a Sephora haul keep reading because I promise this is a good’un.
Fresh is a bit of a blast from the past. I use to love it when I was at school but haven’t paid much attention to it in recent years. The Sugar Eau de Parfum was my favourite scent from when I was about 16/17 and when I picked it up in Sephora all those carefree teen memories came flooding back to me and I knew I had to have it! They’ve also added various combinations of the classic Sugar scent and the Sugar Lychee is a winner. Although I might add it’s probably the most sickly sweet scent I now own.
Finally the Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF15 has been spoken about many, many times. It does exactly what it says on the tin, it’s super moisturising with the subtlest colour tint. I’m glad I chose Plum, one of the darker shades because the tint is very sheer and I doubt you would have got any colour payoff from the lighter colours.
Kat Von D has become a cult line which has earned the praises of beauty bloggers and makeup artists in all corners of the globe. I picked up two of her most loved products, the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bachelorette and Bauhau5 and Tattoo Eyeliner in Ink Black.
The Everlasting Liquid Lipstick colour selection is not for the faint hearted, they’re all pretty bold. Think bright orange, bold purple and intense reds. So these are basically all about a statement lip. The consistency is super thick, it’s a bit like applying a paint or paste to your lips but it really does last all day. I’ve never had such an everlasting lip colour, it’s incredible! On the downside it can be a touch drying but this is to be expected with a matte lip gloss plus the colour payoff makes it worthwhile. Everyone should try these!
The Tattoo Liner is similar in that it has intense pigmentation and is super long lasting. The felt-tip nib is quite long and flexible which I found a little tricker to use at first but it does allow you to get right into the lashes because it’s such a slender shape.
I’ve heard only amazing things about the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF15. I bought the accompanying Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush as well to give it a fair shot so I’m expecting great things. I’ll keep you posted on this one!
Bare Minerals is not a go to beauty brand for me but I couldn’t resist their Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss in Hypnotist. It is divine! In the tube and when swatched the colour switches between violet, peach and pink tones in different lights. The downside is although it’s stunning in the packaging, wearing it doesn’t look like anything more than a clear gloss. You don’t get any of the holographic shine at all. Having said that I do like the formula as it isn’t too sticky so I’d potentially repurchase in other colours.
These are probably the most over priced necessity in my makeup bag. I do slightly resent paying £16 for a mini piece of sponge but there is something about the Beauty Blender which simply can’t be replicated by anyone else and it does create flawless makeup. It’s my favourite tool to use with concealer. They are thankfully a little cheaper in America and this red version is exclusive to Sephora.
Yet another cult product which I picked up last minute in their minis section. People rave about this Eyeshadow Primer Potion Tube so I figured I ought to try it for myself.
As a final note I signed up to the Sephora Beauty Insider rewards programme which is really worthwhile, even if you are UK based. Once you reach anywhere 100-500 points you can claim various samples and treats. Points never expire so even if it’s years between visits you can keep them stored for next time. As I spent just under $300 I was able to pick myself two gifts which were the Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Mascara and Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser.
