One thing I will note is although Christmas feels like a long way away you do need to buy these early as they do sell out quick.
Beauty Advent calendars are something I was aware of but hadn’t realised just how many brands had jumped on the bandwagon. Everyone from department stores to luxury brands to high street labels now have their own version. This will be the first year I’m going to invest in one (or two or maybe three!) and thought I’d share my comprehensive research in case anyone else is confused and undecided. One thing I will note is although Christmas feels like a long way away you do need to buy these early as they do sell out quick.
As there are so many I figured the best and fairest way was to list them in ascending order of price:
Primark £15
Predominantly filled with nail polishes in every colour with a few useful manicure accessories thrown in for good measure. Perfect for the nail obsessed! Grab it quick at your nearest Primark store, it won’t be around for long.
W7 £19.99
This is probably the best value for money. Behind each door is a selection of sample sized beauty treats from nail polish, lipstick, lipgloss, mascara and eyeshadow. It is already available to purchase HERE.
Yankee Candle £24.99
Although this isn’t really beauty, tell me of a beauty junkie who doesn’t love a candle? None! I absolutely love this one for its reasonable price and fun 3D shape. A number of the scents included are Christmas themed including Candy Cane Lane, Christmas Memories, Christmas Garland, Spiced Orange and Snowflake Cookie. It is already sold out in a lot of places but can still be purchased HERE.
No7 £35
This is still a purse friendly price especially when you consider the contents are worth £130. It is packed with skincare and makeup must haves which is said to include the iconic No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Day Cream. It will be available to purchase in Boots stores and online from 29th October.
L’Occitane £45
The L’Occitane calendar has 13 doors to open. This is to mark the holiday tradition in Provence which is to have 13 deserts on the festive table. Your treats cover fragrance, body and skincare. It is available on the L’Occtine website from November 3rd.
Ciate London £49
I feel like Ciate has slightly has their moment and aren’t as popular as they once were. However, if you are a nail polish fan this is one for you. The selection includes some bestselling shades, textured polishes and festive transfers. It is already available to purchase HERE or HERE.
You Beauty – £49.95
I’m liking this one A LOT for its mid level entry price and AMAZING product selection. Brands include Laura Mercier, Molton Brown, Benefit, Glamglow and Caudalie to name but a very few. This is a definite for me, grab it while stocks last HERE.
Lush £49.95
This is a slightly strange one in that it celebrates 12 days of Christmas rather than 24, so you have 12 doors to open. There is a nice variety of products in this including their famous bath bombs, body lotion, soap and shower gel. A must for Lush lovers! Buy it HERE.
The Body Shop £55
The Body Shop Calendar offers decent sized samples of Hand creams, lip balms and body lotions in a variety of their delicious scents. Its total contents are valued at £80 so it’s a nice little Christmas treat for body shop fans! If this one the one for you you can buy it HERE.
Elemis £59.50
This is another one with only 12 doors to open. It is perfect for all those spa junkies out there and includes a number of their top end product. This is already available online HERE.
Benefit £60
This is one I’m considering getting because you get such a vast array of their products including their cult classics and all time favourites. It also falls near the price point middle and compared to the price of The Body Shop I think it looks like great value. Although it is worth noting some of the product sizes are super small samples. Sold out online but it is still available in stores.
Selfridges £85.50
This was a sell out last year and I imagine it will be the same this time around with their Enchanted Spells Advent Calendar. It is currently available to buy online HERE. It has a great range of products from makeup to perfume. Brands include Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Kiehl’s and Victor & Rolf to name but a few.
Liberty £149
The Liberty calendar is available to purchase online HERE and will be in store to purchase from 6th November. I see similarities between this one and the Selfridges one however my impressions are the Liberty version is far superior in terms of product and brands. Product sizes are generous and brands include Diptyque, Dermalogica, Kiehls, Eve Lom and Laura Mercier to name just a few. Although with a £63.50 price difference this should be the better of the two!
Jo Malone £250
Absolutely my dream calendar! I love everything about Jo Malone from the in store experience through their scents and incredible skin care. Her body scrub was recently featured on the blog as a Must Buy which you can read HERE. However, at £250 I don’t think I’ll be getting it but I do love it. Available exclusively to Harrods.
