Being Cher from Clueless was probably my 12-year-old self's biggest life ambition...
I’m SO happy the 90s are back with a bang! I’m a true 90s child, having grown up watching Saved by the Bell, Sister Sister and Clueless. Being Cher from Clueless was probably my 12-year-old self’s biggest life ambition (sad I know!). You can only imagine how delighted I am to see the return of high rise blues jeans, bomber jackets and chokers.
These fringe jeans have been a huge hit with me. Firstly they are so comfy! The biggest perk about high rise denim is just how comfortable they are. There’s no waistband digging into you like a low rise pair does nor having to squeeze yourself into them like a pair of skinnies; hallelujah to that!
During the autumn I’ve been wearing them with either my slings backs (another 90s throwback) or flat ballet pumps (like these orange ones HERE or pink glittery ones HERE). As the weather gets colder I’m thinking they’ll also look great with booties, probably a velvet or patent pair. I’m already looking forward to styling these for a chillier climate!
I absolutely love it and have the utmost respect for people who take a leap of faith and follow their dreams. My friend Chris has talked about being a fashion designer for as long as I’ve known him. He recently launched his brand with a line of chokers. Not only are they on-trend but they’re also absolutely gorgeous. I’m wearing the tassel version, called Crow which you can find HERE. I’ve barely taken it off since I got it. It makes the perfect statement without being too over the top.
Also, good news for all my US readers as everything is shipped out of California. Although he does also offer international shipping, just bear in mind it will take that little bit longer to arrive but so it’s so worth the wait!
Outfit details: Jeans – Topshop (find HERE) | Tee – H&M (similar HERE) | Jacket – Vintage Chanel (similar HERE & HERE which is super cute!) | Shoes – Topshop (similar HERE) | Belt – Hermes (similar here) | Choker – Christopher Vigil (find HERE) | Bag – Gucci x Unicef
Sometimes rather than recreate the 90s, it’s better to embrace the real deal. If I’m honest I’m not much of a vintage girl but occasionally I will find a piece which takes my breath away. This vintage Chanel tweed bomber from the 90s is one of those items. I wrote a whole post about it HERE where I spoke about where I purchased it from, the reasons I fell in love with it and how much it cost. If you do want to know more about it and read some of my vintage tips make sure you have a look at that blogpost.
