My obsession with trainers paired with skirts/dresses isn't going anywhere and it creates that perfect "almost Spring" look...

Outfit of compromise

This time of year is always a strange one.  We are all yearning for Spring, bare legs and a little more sunshine but the British weather hasn’t quite caught up with our wishes! Even so now is the time to start thinking about shopping for those new Spring pieces because by the time the sun does appear all the best items will be sold out!  Trust me I’ve learnt from experience!

I’m already picking out some of my key pieces for my Spring/Summer wardrobe and this Topshop skirt is too good to miss.  As I’m rather on the short side I usually find this fuller style midi skirt almost impossible to pull off as the length generally finishes at the mid point of my calf, diminishing my already minimal height.  Plus, it draws unnecessary attention to my very stocky calves!  This little number is from the petite section at Topshop.  By making it that little bit shorter and with more flattering proportions it makes a whole heap of difference.  Hurrah!

I think it’s really important brands cater to different body shapes because there is nothing worse than loving something and not being able to wear it just because you don’t fit a stereotypical mould.  I know of a few brands and online retailers who offer petite sizing, such as ASOS, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Miss Selfridge, but if you know of any other great brands please share, I’d love to discover some new ones!

Even I have to admit we are still a long way off from sandal season but thankfully this skirt looks fab with trainers.  My obsession with trainers paired with skirts/dresses isn’t going anywhere and it creates that perfect “almost Spring” look, so you can hopefully rock this outfit sooner rather than later.

I absolutely love this colour palette combination of olive green, black and rose gold at the moment.  Plus, they’re the perfect shades for this transitional season, as you don’t want to be too much of a keen bean by reppin’ those pastels or florals too early in the season.

  1. I’m quite tall but my legs are much shorter compared to my upper body so where all my dresses and tops need to come from a tall section, my bottoms are all petite. Its so good there are brands that cater to these requirements rather than just focusing on regular sizing. This skirt is gorgeous by the way and I love how you’ve styled it with a bardot tee. I’m so excited for it to be warm enough to start wearing skirts and trainers again now! <3 x

I LOVE Alice McCall but never ordered from them as I wasn’t sure about sizing. I will definitely check out Bec and Bridge as that’s a new name to me. Thanks for the tips and the lovely comment about my writing style, appreciate it so much! xx
