Wearing something sparkly is also a great mood lifter.

Making long-term memories hasn’t been easy the last 18 months and it quickly taught me how important they are. I can’t fathom if Spring 2020 to Summer 2021 has been the longest or quickest period of my life. Despite it being a blur, those 18 months will stay etched in my mind forever, but right now I’m so ready to start making joyful memories again. Living in the present has never felt so important and capturing as many extraordinary moments as possible is vital. As a result, I’m enjoying a new mantra which is to SAY YES! If it involves my friends and family, I’m saying yes to every invite.
However, if you’re still cautiously re-entering the world or simply looking for ways to make memories at home, these are a few ideas:

Dressing Up
One thing my boyfriend, Alex, and I Iike to do is randomly dress up. We occasionally put something pretty on for a picnic in the garden and pretend to be at Goodwood!
Working from home is something a lot of us have had to adjust to. I can’t be the only one guilty of spending too much time in joggers and an overly stained sweater, so to counter that, I like to do “Dress Up Friday”. The simple act of putting something fabulous on feels momentous.
Wearing something sparkly is also a great mood lifter. I’ve been lucky enough to wear London Road jewellery on a few occasions and it feels eternally special. I’ve always been partial to a good ring stack, so layering several fine jewellery rings instantly gives me a boost.

I adore playing with different textures and colours. Often the unexpected pieces work best together. Juxtaposing London Road’s iridescent Grey Pearl Ball ring with their playful Blue Topaz, Pink Tourmaline and Moonstone ring adds a needed pop of colour while embracing timeless glamour in one swoop. When it comes to rings I’ve always followed the motto “more is best”.

Celebrate the Mundane
No matter how small the occasion, we celebrate it! Fortunately, with Alex being from New York, we have double the festivities, as there’s the American holidays too, such Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Labour Day and Memorial Day. However, beyond these, we regularly celebrate mini-milestones too. If Alex signs a deal or I hit a breakthrough moment with the blog, we make sure to commemorate it.
Celebrating can involve anything from cracking open an extra nice bottle of wine to buying each other a memento to mark the occasion. I particularly like it when Alex surprises me with fine jewellery which he has been known to do every now and again.
For those that want to give their loved ones a nudge, there’s plenty of beautiful jewellery to draw inspiration from in this blogpost. Although if you’re stuck for ideas some of my favourite London Road jewellery pieces are the Initial Diamond Pendant, Diamond Circle Meridian Bracelet and Single Pearl Bracelet.

Date Nights at Home
Date nights have proved to be so important in our relationship. Quality time when we’re not half working at the dinner table, or worse watching TV while eating (please don’t tell me we’re the only ones guilty of that?!) can be a rarity. If we don’t deliberately make an effort to put our phones down, I’m not sure how often it would have happened naturally.
Also, if you’re struggling to find those reasons to “dress up”, dates nights are a great excuse. So, pile on the jewellery and allow yourself to shine bright for the evening.

Memories can definitely be made at home but they’re harder to do. You need to make a much more determined effort to create them. While I’m fully embracing the ease of making them outside the house, there will always be something remarkable about the ones you can make at home. Having said that, world, I am ready for you…
