Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most "me" and best outfit I've worn in a while.

Iris and Ink

Sometimes you put on an outfit which pretty much personifies you and makes you feel amazing!  I wanted to share this look, for no other reason then I’m head over heels in love with it!  I’m not rocking a particular trend or styling a statement piece here, this is simply something I had in my wardrobe and pulled together.  Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most “me” and best outfit I’ve worn in a while.

Iris and Ink

I think my enormous love for it predominantly stems from these amazing Iris & Ink culottes.  For those that don’t know Iris & Ink, it is The Outnet’s in-house fashion brand.  It’s recognised for its forward-thinking designs with a firm nod to the classics and impeccable quality.  I have a few pieces from the line, all of which I love, but none more than these amazing culottes!  I’m completely and utterly obsessed!  They add the perfect drama and structure to a look.  They manage to be everything rolled into one; fun and smart, a statement and a classic.

I picked these up in one of The Outnet’s amazing clearance sales, so sadly they’ve now all sold out but I’ve linked 6 amazing alternatives below:

Culottes have become a firm favourite of mine ever since I purchased my first pair from Tibi (read about them HERE).  To all those other unlucky girls, like me, who don’t have legs that go on for days, don’t be fearful of culottes.  They are honestly the most flattering trousers for every, and I mean every, body type!  I’ve heard so many girls of a similar height to me say they avoid culottes and palazzo pants out of fear it’ll look like they have stumpy legs!  I’m on the short side (5’1 to be precise) and I’m not even wearing heels with them.  I simply feel I don’t need to.  I promise you no matter your body shape these will look amazing on you.  I urge you to just give them a go!

Just one word of warning, if you are on the hunt for the perfect culottes please splurge that little bit extra.  With this style of trousers, it’s all about the right weight of fabric and seamless tailoring.  Both of which you’ll only get if you go for quality.  I promise, it will be worth the extra pennies!

Dressing is about more than just clothes, it’s about personality and expressing, not just who you are, but also who you want to be.  I wrote a whole blogpost about how fashion can be your own personal armour (catch it HERE) and how it has a magical ability to elevate your confidence to new levels.  This is exactly what this outfit did for me and it’s a perfect reminder to dress for yourself, not a trend or any other reason, just yourself!

I would love to know what your magical confidence boosting outfit is or whether you even have one?!

  1. I love this post and can relate to so many ideas – about feeling more confident in an outfit that truly expresses you, for example. And I wholeheartedly agree with your suggestion to invest in well-made culottes. I brought a pair of Eileen Fisher ones to New York and am soooo glad I did.
Your styling is also impeccable. I love the way the top is cinched just below the bust, which keeps the look from looking shapeless. That is my biggest challenge with really wide-legged culottes. Just beautiful! Xo
