For a brand to have such a strong London heritage struck a chord with me and I snapped up the opportunity to head south of the river to learn more and take a sneaky look behind the scenes.
When I first discovered London Road Jewellery I wasn’t just smitten with their beautiful designs, but also their incredible London heritage. London Road is a third generation jewellery manufacturer with brother and sister duo, Ed and Suzanne, at the helm. To this day every piece is designed and made in their original South London workshop. For a brand to have such a strong London heritage struck a chord with me and I snapped up the opportunity to head south of the river to learn more and take a sneaky look behind the scenes.
Hidden behind a non-descript door is the London Road Headquarters and what can only be described as a treasure trove of jewels and impeccable craftsmanship. It felt like I’d taken a step back in time as I witnessed the same skills that had been utilised for generations. As Suzanne gave me the tour she explained the level of skill and care that goes into creating their intricate designs.
For a long time London Road operated as a workshop for one-off commissions but Suzanne and Ed noted a gap in the market has been exasperated by the rising price of gold. The challenge was to fill the void between branded silver and more traditional 18ct gold with fashion conscious, keenly priced designs while still managing to incorporate diamond and gem-set elements. Their core retail prices sit between £150 – £600. Given their wealth of expertise, stunning designs and friendly pricing it’s hardly surprising the level of success London Road has since enjoyed.
As I walked around the workshop, meeting the designers and artisans, I got the feeling the devil is in the detail. They use meticulously cut diamonds which have fallen out of favour with most jewellers, who choose to use simpler cuts as a means to cut costs. This unwavering commitment to detail and quality means London Road’s designs truly sparkle! Every stone, no matter how minuscule, is checked rigorously for flaws or discolouration. For most of us fine jewellery is such a special purchase and it’s comforting to know that London Road takes the time to ensure you get nothing less than perfection which will last forever.
I left the London Road Jewellery workshop truly inspired, my eyes twinkling from all the diamonds and dreaming of becoming a jewellery maker. Find out more about London Road Jewellery by visiting their website HERE.

What a cool experience! I’ve never seen how jewelry is made in person so it must be an eye opener. Btw, what is that green polish you’re wearing??
Looks like a fabulous place, love boutique jewellers, always good to remember the names of them!
Oh my goodness, what a fantastic experience! When my husband and I designed my engagement ring (with a jeweler who worked with stones that sound similar to what London Road Jewellery works with) I was so fascinated by the artistry and detail that goes into creating a beautiful piece of jewelry. I would have loved to have a full behind the scenes look at the process like you go! I’m definitely going to check out London Road Jewellery’s pieces!
Sounds like an awesome experience! How fun would it be to be a jewelry designer! hehe
