It's one of the only brands I know which successfully marries incredible comfort, complete practicality and style seamlessly. I don't think there is a piece of clothing I own which I enjoy wearing more than one of my I Love Mr Mittens knits.
It has been a hot minute since I’ve done a Brand Love post, the last one was back in January, so I’m bringing the series back with a bang, with a brand I simply cannot get enough of whatever the weather.
I do feel a bit ridiculous writing about a knitwear brand, albeit an amazing one, just as we’re about to hit high summer. Although I figured with our British weather, you never know when you’ll need to bundle up, plus this brand was a sell out during autumn/winter so it isn’t a bad idea to start thinking about which pieces to invest in sooner rather than later.
I Love Mr Mittens is an Australian brand who specialises in creating chunky handcrafted knitwear using the most gorgeous, luxurious wool sourced from South America. The heart of the brand is about quality not quantity and you’ll often hear creative director Stephanie referring to their “heartworking” philosophy. University students and retired pensioners alike, work with a common objective of executing the I Love Mr Mittens’ vision of how knitwear should be; simple, elegant, timeless and fashionable.
For me what makes I Love Mr Mittens so special is how wonderful it feels on. It’s one of the only brands I know which successfully marries incredible comfort, complete practicality and style seamlessly. I don’t think there is a piece of clothing I own which I enjoy wearing more than one of my I Love Mr Mittens knits.
Even though we are heading into summer I still think there is a place for these knitwear delights in your wardrobe. I’ve styled them exactly how I’ll be wearing them on those chilly summer evenings.
The Bomber in Khaki
The bomber is my favourite shape from I Love Mr Mittens because it has such a modern edge to it. I had no idea knitwear could look this contemporary until I found this beauty. It really does feel like you’re wearing a jacket rather than a cardigan due to the sheer weight of the wool and cable knit. I’ve heard through the grapevine they’ll be launching a new shape bomber for A/W16 and if this is anything to go by I’m sure it will be incredible.

Cropped Cable in Ice Blue
Most I Love Mr Mittens designs come in two sizes XS/S and M/L. I’d usually wear the XS/S but I managed to nab this cropped jumper on sale and they only had the larger size available. Although I would have preferred the XS/S I definitely think most dress sizes (probably anywhere between a UK 8 – 14) can probably get away with wearing either size as they’re so oversized. In other words, they’re pretty much perfect for all body shapes.

Cardigan in Black
There are a very few of these cardigans currently on sale at London boutique Icon Au which is the only UK stockist of I Love Mr Mittens. Last time I checked they had black, placid blue and khaki (like the shade of my bomber above) still available. I would definitely try and get hold of one if you can because all the online boutiques are completely sold out of the wool pieces. Personally I think this shape is works better if you’re taller. I found it slightly swamped my short frame and the cropped styles, like the ones before, work much better for me. If you are 5ft5 upwards this would most likely look absolutely fabulous on you.

Such a good review! For the Diamond bomber, how did you know which size to get, and which one did you end up getting?
Aww thanks hun, I’m glad it was helpful! I have the XS/S in the bomber which is a great fit on me. I’m a size UK8 so I knew I was going to need to smaller size. I would say the XS/S would fit up to a UK10. xx
