Banana Republic OOTD

While I was at university I use to be a part time shop gal at the first ever Banana Republic in the UK, so for this reason I have a love/hate relationship with the brand.  Annoyingly it floods back memories of having to do hours upon hours of folding or explaining for the umpteenth time how American sizing worked.  Lets just say working in retail wasn’t my calling.

On the bright side the employee discount was pretty hefty plus I learnt a huge amount about the quality and fit of their clothes.  In terms of craftsmanship and attention to detail Banana Republic is easily the top end of the high street, think Reiss or Karen Millen quality but without the hefty price tag.  They also cater for petite and tall sizes and any brand which considers all body shapes gets a big thumbs up from me.

The other wonderful thing about Banana Republic is they are a big fan of sales and promotions which is fairly typical in the US but a novelty for us Brits (we tend to stick to our biannual end of season sales).  Generally if you see something you like you’ll usually be able to pick it up in with some kind of special discount, you just need to keep you’re eyes peeled and sign up for email alerts (yes I know it’s annoying getting an inbox full of junk but sometimes it’s worth it!).

I managed to bag these gorgeous floral trousers in the sale with an additional 40% off the reduced price.  I can’t help but think these were the bargain of the year.  I’ve always been a fan of a floral trouser but there’s something extra lovely about these.  I love the watercolour look, the colour palette and tapered leg.  I’m fairly sure these will be getting plenty of wear over the spring/summer season.

You’ve seen this metallic knit sweater before HERE where I mentioned I’d been wearing it with everything and anything and now you can see it’s true! Both looks are very distinct from the other but this jumper (literally) shines whatever it’s worn with.  Also, I don’t think this will be the last time you’ll be seeing this white eyelet shirt either.  You can’t ever go wrong with a white shirt but the scalloped hem and eyelet detailing makes it extra special.  Also, going back to my point about Banana Republic quality, the cotton in this is lovely and crisp plus the collar really hold it’s shape (there’s nothing worse than a floppy, ill shaped collar!).

I already know this Banana Republic OOTD is going to be recycled on quite a few occasions!

Haha retail is hard work! That’s why I’m never rude to anyone that works in a store because I’ve been there. The BR stores Stateside are so much better than the UK ones! xx

  2. I love the combination of the shirt and the jumper. At first it looked like it was just one piece to me which is great because they fit together so well! I also love the whole colour palette you´ve put on here. It screams spring so much for me.
