Anything which is Balmain but still affordable definitely gets ALL of my attention!

It will come as no surprise to anyone that I was all over the Balmain x L’Oréal collaboration.  Anything which is Balmain but still affordable definitely gets ALL of my attention!

This collection is limited to 12 Color Riche matte lipsticks and is currently exclusive to Harvey Nichols but will become available nationwide from Monday 25th September.

There is so much I like about these lipsticks.  Firstly, at £12.99 they’re very affordable.  Secondly, the packaging is typical of Balmain with all that gold detailing and I just love how they look.  For a matte lipstick, they’re very creamy and hydrating.  Personally, I don’t find them as long lasting as I’d like them to be but it’s not the end of the world.  Finally, I have to mention that they smell like my favourite sweeties, Parma Violets… Mmmm!

In an interview with Vogue, Creative Director, Oliver Rousteing stressed that this collaboration is aimed at strong and modern women and I couldn’t agree more.  This collection is centred around a very bold and striking colour palette.  Think purples, greens, blues and a bright red.

Despite the amazing colour selection, my choice was very paired back (and a bit boring!).  I use to love a strong lip but recently I’ve moved towards a subtler look.  However, saying that there are a few shades (namely Glamazon, Domination and Power – find them HERE, HERE & HERE) I can’t get out of my head and think I’m going to buy when they become available nationwide.

I currently have Confidence, Confession and Urban Safari which are basically 3 different toned nudes.

Confidence (shop it HERE) is a very pretty but subtle, rosy pink with a gold metallic finish.  On its own it’s very sheer, so I recommend either using this as either a top coat or as part of an ombre lip.  This is perfect as the lighter shade to use in the middle of the lips.

Urban Safari (shop it HERE) is quite a hard colour to wear regardless of your skin tone.  Although the beige shade with its peachy undertones looks gorgeous in the bullet, don’t be tricked by it!  I find it really washes me out.

Confession (shop it HERE) is my favourite shade, which I didn’t expect as it has a very coral/orange undertone to it.  However, I LOVE it! It’s just the right amount of colour without being too much.  It’s a perfect universal shade which I’ve been wearing it endlessly.
