The first thing every girl needs is a good quality pair of leather trousers.

We all have those moments when we come home after a long day at work and suddenly remember we have committed ourselves to a big night out.  All you want to do is curl up on the sofa in your PJs but instead, you have to root through your wardrobe and get dressed up.

If I’m totally honest, I am Queen Granny!  I will say and do almost anything to avoid a night out, so when I do have to go out, it’s usually against my will!  On those nights, I’ll suck it up, fluff my hair and put on my glad-rags.  With that being said, I have become skilled at putting together an outfit which is comfy, chic and effortless.

First thing every girl needs is a good quality pair of leather trousers.  Mine are from the Balmain x H&M collaboration from a few years ago and you have seen them many, many times before on the blog.  If you’d like to see them styled in other ways, you can see how versatile they are HERE, HERE and HERE.

If you don’t have a pair in your closet yet, I highly advise you invest in some STAT!  They are the perfect glam item without being OTT.

Personally, I’m a fan of the Balmain biker style ones, as they have a bit more an edge to them, but if you prefer something more elegant, a plain leather pair is a great option too.

You can check out a few of my favourite luxury pairs HERE, HERE and HERE which will last you a lifetime.  Also, there are few from the high street which are priced super well HERE, HERE and HERE.

Statement heels are a must.  I always think it’s best to dress down and let your shoes do all the talking.  These Saint Laurent Opyum pumps have served me really well for when I need to look sharp but can’t actually be bothered.  I can throw these on with anything and they shine!  I’m sure they’d even look fab with some joggers, although I’m yet to try it out!  Although if you want to know how to wear joggers on a night out, check out a previous post HERE.

I’m not going to lie these are a pain in the arse to walk in, so if you’re considering the Opyum pump be warned they are for an evening with minimal walking.  Don’t even think about getting on the underground or bus in these.  I would also highly recommend checking out the Appelle Moi version which are so much easier to walk in. You can check out how I styled them HERE and shop them HERE.

I’m a great believer chic tops don’t have to be expensive.  I have so many from off the high street which I adore.  With evening tops I always advise playing with texture, whether it be silk, lace, ruffles or embroidery.

Also, try and buy ones which you can dress up or down.  Nearly all of my evening tops can be worn during the day too, so I can get double the wear out of them.

Shop this silky number HERE for £39.99 or see some other favourites of mine HERE, HERE and HERE.

We all know my love of blazers is never-ending!  Every wardrobe needs at least one.  Throw a beautifully tailored blazer over your shoulders and it gives an evening look that much-needed piece de resistance.  I’ve written so many posts about how to find the right blazer for you, so if you want to know more, I suggest you read my Everything You Need to Know about Buying a Blazer and Balmain Blazers: The Ultimate Rundown posts.

This whole post is effectively a very long-winded and detailed way of saying invest in some leather trousers and you’ll be set for every night out forever more!  Also, a statement pair of shoes is a great investment for those “I can’t be bothered nights out”, as you’re getting maximum output with minimum input.  If your budget can stretch to it I highly advise investing in a good quality pair, see my favourites HERE, HERE and HERE.

Finally, save yourself some money on the top and find one on the high street which adds texture to your look.  If it’s going to be chilly, throw on a blazer and you’re good to go!  Honestly, in this chic but understated outfit, you can’t go wrong.  You’ll be comfy, warm (thank goodness for blazers!) and ready to party in style.

  1. Your blog title really made me laugh! I know the feeling, though I do love going out though. Really liking the pieces you’ve put together, leather and YSL statement shoes go a looong way! ( :

  2. I also don’t like going out for dinner especially when it’s cold and I just wake up after a nap haha. You’ve assembled a pretty nice combo for a night out, I love biker jackets and pants especially when it’s leather or a look a like. Always loving your YSL pumps. Happy weekend babe!
