Dior isn’t a brand I’ve often talked about on the blog but I think they’re having a real renaissance at the moment and I’m quickly becoming obsessed.  There has been a huge creative shift with the arrival of Dior’s first ever female Creative Director and she is adding her mark to the brand in the strongest, most empowering way possible.

For those that don’t know much about Maria Grazia Chiuri she came to Dior from Valentino, where she was responsible for the much-loved rockstud.  Her reputation proceeds her as not only exceptionally talented but also incredibly kind with a real passion and drive.  Channel 4 did a really fantastic 2 part documentary following her around as she designed her first collection, called Inside Dior which is definitely worth a watch if you love your luxury fashion (click HERE to be taken to it).  It made me fall in love with her and I knew after watching it I had to have a piece from her iconic first collection for Dior.

The SS17 collection is a real eclectic mix but the underlying theme that runs through it is female empowerment with tees emblazoned with slogans like “We should all be feminists” and “Dio(R)evoultion”.  It’s a strong message coming from a woman who has broken boundaries herself within the fashion industry but I wonder if even she realised just how relevant it would be with Trump taking office and the after-effect it has had on women.  As we take to the streets the fight for our rights, her message couldn’t ring more true.

Originally I had my eyes on the slingback shoes with the Dior ribbon which just about everyone is wearing at the moment.  I really wanted the white flat versions but sadly they were sold out, so I ended up turning my attention to the amazing bags.  This wallet on a chain comes in three colours, black, white and red.  Recently, I’ve been really loving red accessories which is a colour I wouldn’t have even considered a few years ago.  Something about this bag in red with the beautiful antiqued hardware just made me go WOW!

I have to say this is the best WOC ever.  It is so roomy, I can fit my credit cards, cash, coins, iPhone plus, house keys, car keys and a lipstick all inside it.  I also adore all the different ways it can be worn, especially being able to slide your hand behind the J’adior slot as I think this looks really high fashion.

The other reason I really recommend this bag is it’s quite reasonably priced.  I use the term “reasonably” loosely because let’s be honest luxury handbags are not reasonable!  However, this is the best way to buy into the handbag collection without breaking the bank.  The bigger sized bags go up to around the £2300 mark, whereas this WOC is £1200 and still get all the important and recognisable elements from the collection (i.e. J’adior logo, hand slot, the beautiful antique gold hardware).  Even better than that, if you want the black version they do a size down from this one called the J’adior Croisiere Wallet which is slimmer and a little bit longer for £840 (see it HERE).  I definitely would have gone for this one, if it wasn’t for the fact I really don’t need another black handbag!

  1. Great bag. I love how you styled it! I particularly like that she took the same element of slipping your hand through the bag to hold as a clutch as she probably created for Valentino. 🙂 It’s so much more of a chic way of holding a WOC when you don’t want it on your shoulder!
