As a lip product fiend, my top 5 MAC lipsticks post had to be done. You’ll probably notice an apparent theme running through my 5 choices as I do tend to go for very similar shades but if I love something I go with it! I’ve tried as much as possible to pick a couple of less obvious shades, so hopefully this will give you some new colours to check out in MAC. Also, if you have any recommendations please let me know.
Captive – Satin
I was originally going to have Plumful here, but in the last month it has been tossed aside in favour of Captive. Captive is a much more of a stand out shade. It has a richer, darker, plumier tone. I love it as it bridges a daytime and statement lip perfectly, without being too much of one or the other.
Stone – Matte
This was a “saw it and love it instantly” moment but it was out of stock… Typical! My love for it was confirmed when I popped back every week till I finally got my paws on it. It’s definitely a colour for the brave and sometimes I put it on and have to take it straight off again BUT on the days it does work, there isn’t a shade like it! Incredible on a night out and right on trend at the moment.
Velvet Teddy – Matte
Like the rest of the world I owe this one to Kylie Jenner. Everyone knows the colour and we pretty much all love it. Enough said really!
Self Aware – Amplified
My most recent MAC lipstick purchase was Self Aware form the collection M.A.C nificent Me!. This is an unusual one for me as it’s quite nude and much more of a subtler hue then I’m use to. I am usually all about a statement lip! However, I like it because it has such a warm undertone and can be used all year around (unlike a couple of my other choices which have probably been influenced by the recent autumnal weather!). This will look amazing with a tan in the Summer but I also like it paired back with a minimal makeup and cold weather induced rosy cheeks.
“O” – Frost
This is a very scary shade in the bullet but on it’s such an interesting shade. It is a Frost (usually very unlike me!) so it has a shimmer to it but the bronze and raspberry undertones makes it sophisticated rather than glitter fairy princess! It’s a fairly glamorous shade so perfect for the evening, although I have been known to wear it during the day when I’m feeling like I need to make a statement!
