Meet my Birthday Birkin!

I recently shared my entire story about buying and owning my first Hermes Birkin.  If you missed it, you can catch it HERE & HERE.  As you’ll know buying one wasn’t an easy process.  If I’m totally honest I’m in no rush to do it again and neither is my bank account!

So, it is with great surprise to me to be writing about another Birkin bag which has recently come into my life.  I turned 30 last month (you can read all about it HERE) and I was thoroughly spoilt to given one for my birthday.  My mum, knowing how much I adore luxury fashion, kept this bag stashed away till the big day.

It couldn’t be more perfect!  I mentioned in my previous Birkin reveal post, I originally wanted one in either grey, black or taupe but at the time of purchase none of those colour options were available to me.

You can only imagine how delighted I am to have a classic black one in 30cm with brushed pallidum hardware.

It goes without saying I adore this bag but it’s not one I will be using endlessly.  Firstly, it’s very sentimental.  As a gift from my lovely mummy, the last thing I want to do is wear it death and ruin it.  Instead, I’ll treasure it and keep it safely on my closet shelf where I can look but not touch!

Secondly, it is in Swift leather which is one of the most fragile leather options from Hermes.  It is absolutely stunning to look at.  The leather is silky smooth with the most beautiful luminosity.  It catches and reflects the light sensationally.  However, it’s very delicate and prone to scratching.

I’ve used this bag twice and I can already see wear on the corners and I just can’t bear the thought of it being damaged any further.

Thirdly, this bag is incredibly rare.  It has brushed pallidum hardware which can only be purchased from Hermes via special order.  I am absolutely besotted with the matte hardware.  I think it gives the bag a point of difference and stops it from being “just a black Birkin”.

With all that being said this might be the last time you see it on the blog but given the recent feedback about my bag reveals and reviews I knew I had to share this beauty with you at least once!

  1. Oh wow a Birkin I would love to own a Birkin one day. Love the simplicity of your styling. Funny last night I was out to dinner with a friend of mine and a young woman sat next to me, she was in black including a black fluffy coat, And her her bag was so cool, kind of looked like a Birkin but with a chain strap. So prettty.

  2. OMG! How lucky are you?!?! That’s so nice of your mum to buy you a Birkin, and one you have always dreamed of. That truly is a special piece! Congratulations! I now understand your title about buses, I didn’t at first, but then realised it’s because you got one after ages and then another came along soon after, like a bus. I can understand you not wanting to use it anymore in case you damage it, but that makes me so sad. I was hoping to see her in many of your outfit posts to come as she’s stunning. Perhaps you might be able to bring her out for just a photo shoot in up coming looks? It would be devastating to keep such beauty from us 😉 Hope you’re well 🙂
